A special celebratory show at the Drama Centre, Singapore on the occasion of Joanna Wong’s 80th birthday, featuring a cast of 70 including students past and present, guest artists and the Guangzhou Hong Dou Cantonese Opera troupe. Co-directed by Christopher Choo and Leong Kum Fai, who were also her students. Expect to see excerpts from Joanna’s signature operas, including Madam White Snake (her first leading role), The Patriotic Princess, Inauguration of the Six States’ Prime Minister, Farewell to a Warrior, A Costly Impulse, and Intrigues in the Qing Imperial Palace.
A highlight of the show is a new song specially composed by Mr Leslie Wong that pays tribute to Joanna’s achievements. This is a feat of composition where the lyrics weave in 48 of her students’ names.
